Brewery Het Anker, Mechelen, Belgium, 8.0% abv
Aroma: Bright malty aroma, with very little hoppiness. There is a fruitiness of green apples hanging around as well.
Appearance: Bright golden yellow in color, with a strong carbonation. It lifted a huge white fluffy head, that fell slowly to a rocky pillow.
Flavor: It shows a strong malty front, with a hint of sourness across the tongue. There are no hops showing, but it doesn’t harm the overall complexity in the brew.
Mouthfeel: Very pointed carbonation, with a lightness on the palate. It is smooth on the aftertaste, with a sour tang that really makes the brew.
Overall Impression: I love this beer. While the name may lead our thoughts to a darker place, this beer definitely leads us to a better place in life. Incidentally, I couldn’t help myself. I did this tasting on Good Friday.
Lucifer is burning on the label of this bottle, need I say more? It reminds me of Parry, thanks to Piers Anthony.
