Brasserie D’Orval, 6.9% abv
This beer was bottled on 3-27-14, and tasted on 7-5-14. This is a beer that could enjoy a couple years of aging before drinking, but is also very good right away as well.
Aroma: Brightly malty with hints of citrus. Not much from the hops.
Appearance: Deep golden amber in color, with a brilliant effervescence. It lifted a large fluffy pale head, that fell quickly to a foamy cover over the beer.
Flavor: Strong malty presence, with only a hint of hops. Other flavors pop in with citrus notes being the strongest. A bit of a sour tang finishes the taste.
Mouthfeel: Very light on the palate, with a spritzy carbonation lifting it higher. The acidic zing finishes the brew quite well.
Overall Impression: What can I say? This is one of the best beers in the world. If you get a chance to try it, take advantage and enjoy a choice brew. I hope to some day be able to enjoy one, or a few, at this brew’s home.
