Legend Brewing Co, Richmond, VA, 12% abv, 46 IBU
Aroma: Deep malty aroma, with a nutty background. The hops aren’t prevalent, making for a smooth aroma profile. Dark fruits are heavy on the nose.
Appearance: Very deep ruby in color in front of a light. It raised a deep tan head, which fell to a layer of tiny bubbles. There is a good carbonation of smaller bubbles rising through the brew.
Flavor: The malts are very forward, with wonderful background flavors of tobacco, licorice, black grapes and a slight tang of sour cherries. The hops hang around lightly, balancing the malty profile. The alcohol is warming, making this beer wonderful on a cold night.
Mouthfeel: Very heavy on the tongue, with good carbonation. The malts hang around well, leaving an aftertaste of biscuit goodness.
Overall Impression: I like this one, and on a day like today (see picture), it is definitely worth enjoying the entire 22 oz. bottle. If you get a chance, get down to the brewery and grab a few bottles to age for a couple years. I will definitely be trying that myself.
So, the Legend labels are fairly plain, but hey, they put a Unicorn right in the middle of their label.
