Legend Imperial Harvest Ale

Legend Brewing Co., Richmond, VA, 9% abv

Aroma: Very malty on the nose, with a good kick of cascade hop aroma.

Appearance: Bright coppery color, with a medium carbonation. It lifted a pale tan head of tight bubbles, which fell slowly to leave a dense layer of bubbles.

Flavor: Deep malty flavor, with hints of nuts, chocolate, caramel, and spices. The hops are light, as is the bitterness, but it leaves room for the other flavors to push through.

Mouthfeel: Heavy on the tongue, with a pointed carbonation. It coats the tongue well, with a light alcohol and carbonation burn.

Overall Impression: This is a great brew, with a full bodied flavor and a great finish. I am really enjoying it.

I am pairing this brew with chicken and vegie spring rolls with a spicy peanut sauce. The chicken was roasted whole, coated in rosemary, dill, and basil with salt and pepper. I used the breast meat in the rolls. The combination is amazing, the spicy, umami flavors in the beer match perfectly with the spring rolls and peanut sauce.

And yes, the unicorn is still there…
